Is House Security crucial?

Since I moved in to my new better and larger house and accessorized and refurnished the house for the whole week, I guess it is time to take a break. I did not realize that moving in and redecorating my settlement would take this really long time. It is maybe because I and my wife used to stay in a small and rather dirty apartment which was rarely cleaned up. I am now planning to go out of town this weekend, visiting my parents-in-low since they have never seen my new baby born. It is not a long distance so I am sure there will be nothing harm with my 6 month-old daughter. What I am concerning most is the house. I still have not figured out the safety in my neighborhood. On purpose I introduced my family by visiting my new nextdoor and nearest neighbors by the day I moved here, and I learn that they are all very friendly and helpful. But I am sure it does not guarantee the environmental security.
One of the elderly neighbors already suggested me to provide my house with security system. They never happened anything harmful, but just in case when there is something we don’t want to occur. I can’t agree with the idea more, but the planned weekend is about three days ahead. Will I be able to get my home security system installed in short time? I myself do not have any idea how to install the system, or it may be said that I am terrible at it. I even don’t know what to start or what to buy. And when I have done with the system installation, will it be working well while I am away? A lot of inconvenient things suddenly come up in my mind and there crosses in my mind to cancel the trip. But of course this will just make my wife disappointed, though she would not say so, but I could see it from her eyes… Hey, why don’t I talk to the elderly again and ask him how he could get his home secured.
Warmly and slowly he explained that ADT has done the whole things for him for ages. Once he happened to have a burglar come to his house when he was not home. When he was back home, he didn’t notice any difference with the house or with all equipments he had, just a little thing messed up in the patio. He actually was curious, but he then thought that it might have been wind blow rather hard. Before he went into the house, he shut down the alarm system. And by the time he got inside, his house phone rang. It was ADT calling and telling him that a burglar was almost successful to enter the house by the night he was away. Besides installing fully automated gadgets and alarm systems around the house, ADT monitors all their clients’ houses security status for 24 hours the whole week! Amazing! And the story of my neighbor was true because ADT successfully noticed the existence of the burglar at his house, and, along with local police and security staffs of the resorts, do necessary action at that night. ADT staffs then politely asked my elderly neighbor to go with them to the police station finding out who the burglar was. I am impressed with his true story, and thanking him for the time. Time is so short to my schedule of travel, but I am sure ADT will do the best for the sake of my home security.
