Exit to Survive

Exit to Survive photoOne evening, I went to the town center with my friend to see the nightlife there. I wonder whether the nightlife here is better and brighter than in the past. When we got there, I was quite astonished because every meter of the street and pavement is illuminated by bright street lights, and most buildings have their own shiny commercial boards. And the most exiting one is the new mall in the corner; it is the biggest building in the town. I wonder how the inside is like, so we went in the mall.

It was about 8 pm when we got inside. The mall only has 3 floors connected only with two way escalators, but it is very wide. I wonder this wide building only has 2 escalators on each floor. At that time, there were a lot of people visiting this mall, and they were, including us, queuing to get to higher floor. Reaching the third floor, I look a round at a very various store displays. They sell a lot of things, and it is very interesting until I happened to buy one thing from a store there. We did not realize when the announcer told that the mall will be closed soon. Many people then went down the only downward escalator from higher floor. At first it was pretty calm; but when some body fell down from one step of the escalator, several people tried to rush and push others so the situation then uncontrollable. It was even so nasty that the mall shut down the main lighting in the middle of the building. The light was not influencing much actually, but it gave visitors a terrible feeling of panic.

We both were still far from the escalator so we must be very patient to wait. But I did not wait that long; I look around and found an exit sign pointing to a different direction from the escalator. I grabbed my friend’s arm and asked him to follow me.
We both follow the exit sign to another one until we were in a wide place where several people were also trying to make use of these exit signs. The sign leads us to a stairway to the basement, the parking area. And, shortly, we were there in an even worse place which has a very poor lighting. Fortunately, there are some big letters of ‘EXIT SIGNS’ that really help us to get to the street easily. Pew! It was not an interesting experience I thought, and I was sure that my friend had the same thought.
