Sunshine Breaks On Lanzarote
A holiday in the sunshine is something that most people now regard as a necessity in life. Where once a week spent abroad was a luxury many couldn’t afford, in the last thirty years, foreign travel has become much more attainable. Part of the reason for this has been due to the growth of budget airlines, opening up destinations that were previously obscure or difficult to reach. As a result, most Britons are now far more widely travelled than their parents or grandparents would have been. But in some ways the choice of places to visit is still determined by only a couple of factors. The most important of which is the weather.
As anyone who lives in northern Europe will admit, the lure of reliable sunshine normally wins hands down. This is particularly true during the winter months. The summer holiday seems all the more alluring in the middle of January, when there are still several months to go before the sun makes much of a return. So the hotspots that exist on the southern most border of Europe are especially attractive, with the best weather of all to be found in the Canary islands. Of the seven islands, Lanzarote is one of the driest, with an average of only twenty days rain per year. It has been offering visitors a warm welcome for over forty years and as such has a well-developed tourist infrastructure, with all the modern conveniences holidaymakers have come to expect. This includes an extremely wide range of accommodation in Lanzarote, with everything from studio apartments to luxurious private holiday villas available. And with several slightly more quirky types of accommodation in between, such as eco-yurts and cave houses. The quality of holiday villas in Lanzarote is extremely good, with diligent owners updating their facilities and décor on a regular basis.
As this style of holiday is becoming more and more popular, the general level of comfort and service on offer continues to improve. With many villas, the trend now is to supplement the heated swimming pool with a hot-tub or Jacuzzi. Whilst some bathrooms are fitted with hydro-massage showers and others have bedrooms fitted with air conditioning, there is no end to the innovations being introduced. As the better the experience guests enjoy, the more likely they are to return. Something which many visitors to Lanzarote already seem to do, with many coming back year after year.
