The Las Vegas Strip
In Las Vegas, there is The Strip. It is the glitz and glitter of Las Vegas. This 4-mile (6-km) long thoroughfare (actually a section of Las Vegas Boulevard) is the entertainment capital of the world and home to many of the largest hotels and casinos on the planet. The extravaganza of both its adult entertainment and family favorites makes Las Vegas a city of superlatives. The Strip is a master of reinvention, selling itself on seemingly contradictory values: hedonism one decade, family fun the next.
In this city, there are many places that people can consider as the vacation. For example are Westward Ho, Riviera, Tropicana, and Bally. They are among the few surviving hotel casinos of the 1950s to 1970s. Their facades and landscaping are grand but not over the-top, reflecting the postwar era. Room prices are relatively low. There is also Show Mall. That Mall proudly upholds the Las Vegas maxim that “bigger is better”. This upscale mega mall houses 250 luxury shops and restaurants, and no fewer than eight major department stores are anchors here. Besides that, there are five megaresorts, too in this city. They are Bellagio, Venetian, Aladdin, Mandalay Bay, and Paris. They have all opened since 1998.
In Las Vegas Strip, there is also Wet ‘n’ Wild. It is water heaven for kids and teenagers. Experience thrill rides, a surf lagoon, and a “lazy river” for floating. And also there are Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe impersonators. They, among others, are a routine sight on the Strip. They perform in nostalgia shows; some even perform marriage ceremonies. Keep your eyes open, because some real celebrities live here too.
